A Range a Narrative Driven Portraits
Likenesses captured from life and reference. I rendered my first portrait when I was 14 years old and I have never stopped. Lately I am more inspired by conceptual portraits, likenesses that tell a story. If you want to tell a story or simply capture a detailed likeness please contact me.
Works Featuring The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
As an artist living in Luxembourg it is hard not to be struck by the history and beauty of this lovely yet tiny nation. UNESCO World heritage sites abound here including Roman settlements, ancient castles, and various places of importance from the last thousand years. The city center of Luxembourg, Luxembourg, the capital of the country, was essentially a fortress city across the centuries from the Napoleanic armies of France through to WW2. The noted British painter, J. W. M. Turner, rendered studies of the city early in the 19th century from atop the hill across from where I currently live. Since moving here I have painted, plein air and from reference, along the Alzette, in the Petruse, the Moselle and other places that offer inspiration. My recent works spotlight a few favorites of mine. Two of which, Bock Casemates and the view of the Grund, are places right in my neighborhood. The originals are for sale here while you can find reproductions available on my Etsy store.
Commissioned Artwork
Commissioned Watercolor of Chateau De Nyon Delivered
in the Shadow of the Landmark Swiss Castle May 22, 2022 - Nyon, Switzerland Early on a quiet May Sunday morning, meeting just outside of the towers and iron gates of the 12th century castle that stands at the center of the quaint Swiss village of Nyon, the artist Paul J. Bryant delivered his commissioned painting of this grand edifice. His client. Gary Stroner of Reston, Viginia USA had requested the work to commemorate his experience living in Nyon in the 1970's and the close ties he has maintained across the years to his Swiss host family, Oschner. The painting portrays the Chateau De Nyon just before dawn with Lake Léman (commonly known as Lake Geneva) and the french shore in the distance. The light in the work is dramatic capturing a jeweled sky, reflections across the water and the village of Nyon, asleep in shadow. The watercolor 110 x 80 cm was completed across the spring of 2022. The finished work is being taken back to the United States to be framed and presented in a place of honor in the Stroner home. Click here to view the finished work. "5-STARS - Amazing painting, better than pictures. Highly recommend" - EH Verified Etsy Purchase, USA " 5-STARS - I ordered this as a gift for my niece who recently graduated and moved into her first "grown up" space with her guy. I love to give art as gifts. There was a minor snafu with shipping that was my fault for not checking my messages. Paul messaged saying he needed my phone number to get it through customs and I was late to the game. He was unnecessarily apologetic and truly lovely in our message exchanges. Through them, I learned that his BFF lives in Boulder and that led him to paint aspen leaves. Learning this solidified my choice of gift as my niece graduated from CU. It was serendipitous! My niece loved it, added it to her tiny beginnings of a gallery wall, and said it arrived perfectly packaged and unscathed from across the Atlantic over several weeks. Paul's work is gorgeous and it is obvious his heart goes into each piece! - SP Verified Etsy Purchase, Indiana, USA "5-STARS - This print was purchased as a gift for my brother and his wife and it is absolutely beautiful. Such a serene piece, and exactly as pictured. I bought the largest size, and it scaled really nicely. For US buyers, I will note that the nearest sized frame I could find readily available was just maybe a half a centimeter too big left to right, but it isn't noticeable at scale, and looks lovely. Additionally, the print came very well packaged, and very quickly! I was super impressed and would buy from this artist again. I love his work, and now want some for my own home as well!" - NS Verified Etsy Purchase, Delaware, USA "5-ATARS - The painting is an amazing reflection of landscape. The colors and depth gives you the feeling of a beautiful day in Luxembourg. I highly recommend it." - GP Verified Etsy Purchase, Luxembourg, Luxembourg "5 STARS - A really nice depiction of one of my favourite places (Fort Thüngen) in Luxembourg. Shipping was quick and item was securely packaged." - TK Verified Etsy Purchase, Luxembourg, Luxembourg "5-STARS - Just gorgeous! Bainbridge Island holds a lot of significance for my family and I and this print is a lovely piece in our home." - KS Verified Etsy Purchase, Washington, USA "5-STARS - I purchased a beautiful picture "Luxembourg Reflection" made by Paul Bryant for my husband for Fathers Day, and he was delighted with this lovely scene of Luxembourg. Picture and frame were very well produced. Thank you Paul." - EH Verified Etsy Purchase, Luxembourg, Luxembourg "5-STARS -Beautiful painting and high quality print! I would definitely recommend!" - BB Verified Etsy Purchase, Madrid, Spain |
