In these galleries I want to share my work and my passions.
The subjects of my work fall into four groups.
My love of travel, culture and nature feeds my passion for landscape painting and drawing. No matter where we journey the sun, sea, flora and fauna tell both a common, shared story and one that is unique to that place and time. The human form also is a favorite subject of mine. From my earliest life drawings to my most recent studies the figure holds a simply beauty, a truth that is hidden by the trappings of of modern life. In my experience we have more in common and are much more beautiful when our form is allowed to show.
I have been lucky to study and render a number of portraits or remarkable people. Taking the time to study a face, listen to a personal story and then combine all of that into a likeness of them is a distinct privilege. Finally, the graceful movement, color expression and abundant variety of forms that critters take capture my attention. From fish to fowl, they capture my attention and imagination. I hope my interpretations do them justice and perhaps bring to you some of the wonder I feel for them.
